Crowd sourcing is a new web technology that allows organizations to tap web users to get feedback or have users help each other with problems they may have.
Redesignme is a web service where organizations can solicit input from over 7000 creative users to improve a product, or its marketing, a corporate identity, a package design, or how to bring a product to market.
An organization can create a challenge, gather ideas from creative individuals, provide feedback and choose winners to reward.
Here’s a video from Redesignme’s website that describes the process.
What is interesting about this concept is the thought process that organizations are going through. They no longer do research and design products internally. They take the idea to market, and get feedback.
Many organizations would have difficulty with this idea based on fear of a competitor stealing their idea and coming to market with a similar product faster. But for a Redesign or upgrade this concept might have some merit and could improve the ultimate user’s satisfaction with the product or service being sold. In effect, this is a form of product or service requirements gathering.
What is your opinion? Would companies you know use this?
